Building a camera slider because I could

An early shoot-move-shoot slider for timelapse and astrophotography, assembled on the floor with a pile of parts and tools.

Long homemade camera slider surrounded by wiring, tools, small electronics, and parts on a wood floor
The first working camera-slider setup, parts and all, spread across the floor.

I wanted a shoot-move-shoot slider for timelapse and astrophotography, so I started building one on the floor.

The first version worked, but I could already tell the motor would be the weak point. My plan was to eventually replace it with an Arduino and stepper motor.

Was it finished? Not really. Did it move the camera? Yes. Good enough for version one.

Progress on the DIY Slider for shoot move shoot. I think right now the motor is going to be the downfall. In the future I'll switch to a Arduino with a stepper motor. For now though this works. #idothisforfun #diyslider #nerdstuff #ilovephotography #timelapse #shootmoveshoot #astrophotography #builtnotbought 😉
